Act I
  Scene 1 - Prologue
Hang #245 River Drop as far upstage as possible. In front of this is a low platform (12" to 24" high) about 4' to 6' deep, running across stage. In all levee scenes (Greenville and Natchez) this platform is covered by a low wharf set piece which can be made from #2584 and #2585 Easy Ornament sheets. Hanging stage left, and a foot or two from the back of the platform is #306 Showboat Tab. Downstage of the wharf, hanging right and left are #110-A and B Building Tabs. The entire scene is framed by #93 Foliage Legs and Border.

#261 Interior Drop upstage of the platform is placed on a rake between the Portal and the drop on stage right. This is the stage and old time footlight reflector and low scenery pieces can be used. The permanent platform across the back is covered with a piece of low scenery representing the fronts of the boxes in the auditorium. An additional level can be put on top of the permanent platform stage left to achieve a higher level box if desired. A small piano is upcenter. The entrance is from off left. Benches and chairs are crowded together upleft.
